Almost New York
Share
Last week I was supposed to be in New York.
Yankee Stadium.
Broadway lights.
The 9/11 Memorial.
The Statue of Liberty standing tall in the harbor.
A few quiet hours walking through MOMA.
Street music echoing between buildings.
And the kind of food you can only find on a New York corner.
I had been studying the trip for weeks. Planning the stops. Reading about the neighborhoods. Mapping out the days.
Then, about 18 hours before the flight… the trip was cancelled.
Strange thing though.
After all the time I spent planning, reading, and imagining the city, it felt like I had already been there in some small way.
New York has a way of doing that. Even from a distance.
The energy.
The grit.
The creativity.
The rhythm of a place where millions of stories are happening at once.
That feeling inspired a small New York Collection for It's A Nelson. Four pieces that capture the spirit of the city I was getting ready to walk through.
They were designed for the trip.
They’ll just have to see New York next time.

New York will still be there.
Next time I’ll walk the streets for real.
But in a small way, through the stories, the research, and these designs…
I feel like I already visited.
